Dance Elite Dance Club news

     We have a fun packed weekend coming up here at Dance Elite.  Have you had a stressful week?  Come shake off the blues at our Friday practice party at the Avondale location.  We will be shaking our tail-feathers from 8:30pm to 10:00pm on Friday, January 22 and we would love for you to have some fun with us. 

There is also a local ballroom competition called the River City Mini Match.  It will be held at the Dance Warehouse on Sunday, January 24 starting at 1pm.  We have 2 competitors that will be competing for the first time…Fay Dunham and Travis Betros.  They have been working very hard to prepare for their first event.

Another competitor that is relatively new to competing is Margo Shannon.  She has only done a few competitions and she is really developing her skills beautifully.

     As an additional note, 2 of our professional instructors from the Orange Park location will be competing in the Professional Division.  Amber Miller and Don Beckstrom have formed a new partnership and will be competing in the American Smooth dances of Foxtrot, Waltz and Tango.

     Dance Elite sends a big “Good Luck” to all of our competitors this weekend.  If you want to come watch, spectator tickets are available at the door for $30.  Come support our talented dancers!

Have you heard of JDA yet?  It is an exciting new group of passionate dance studio owners who have come together to promote ballroom dancing in Jacksonville.  We know how much we LOVE dancing and want to share it with the rest of Jacksonville.  The official Kick-Off Party has been announced!  It will be:

• Date: October 17, 2009
• Time:  9 pm to 10:30pm
• Cost: $10/person

On Sunday, December 7, a group of people from both the Avondale and Orange Park locations of Dance Elite went to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for the U.S. Ballroom Championship Finals.  It was a one day dance event to mark the finals of an entire year of dance competitions.  It consisted of all styles of dancing to include Smooth, Latin, and Country Western. 

Dance Elite made top marks to include:

• Top Male Student of the Day – Bill Stewart
• Top Overall Male Student of the Year – Patrick Waldron
• Top Overall Female Student of the Year – Susanna Stewart
• Top Overall Female Teacher of the Year – Amber Miller

     On Saturday November 15, we had the opportunity to be a part of a truly inspiring fund raiser.  The main goal of the fund raiser was to collect money to support medical missions to the Philippines.  These missions make it possible to send medical aid to areas that need assistance.  The evening was both enlightening and entertaining.  We had the opportunity to see first hand the benefits of the fund raiser and met 2 of the children that are currently under going treatment.  Wow!  They truly are amazing, fun-loving children! 

     We began the evening with great traditional food and a wide array of entertainment.  Don and Natalie put on quite a show with their hot Cha Cha!

On Saturday Nov. 8th, Jerald Carter and his assistants Larry, Adrian, & Tommy came to the Avondale location to show us some basics in self defense.

We had great fun learning the techniques and then trying them out on each other.  Jerald gave us some great things that we can use in our every day life and related it all to the factor that binds us…dance.
