This weekend, October 6th-8th, the 21st Anniversary First Coast Classic World Masters Pro and Pro-Am Dancesport Championships were held at the World Golf Village Renaissance Resort in St. Augustine, Florida. With amazing performances from beginning to end, this competition was full of astonishing talent and outstanding choreography.

 A big congratulations goes to Margo Shannon for her big wins at this event, winning Top Newcomer, and tying for Top Student, AND winning the BMW in the Grand Prize Drawing! Congratulations also, to Brittany Vu and Michael Hershey for placing in Top 20 students, to Dance Elite Dance Club for winning 3rd place Top Studio, and to instructor Stephen White and his partner Sabrina Paxman who won 4th place in the World Masters Open Professional Showdance Division. FCCDC was a phenomenal event, and if you missed it this year, mark your calender for next year’s World Masters Dancesport Championships on October 4th-6th, 2012.

October 30th proved to be an exciting weekend in Palm Beach! The Palm Beach Dance Challenge was held at the exquisite Jupiter Beach Resort in South Florida. A 50s-themed party kicked off the weekend Friday, and had all the students and teachers breaking out the rolled denim and poodle skirts for an awesome evening of food, drink, and most importantly, dance!

Saturday’s events were no less exciting, as two local studios, Dance Elite Dance Club and Dance Tonight, performed with poise and grace in a very close-to-call competition!! Congratulations to Margo Shannon for her victory as Top Student, and for her very cool West Coast Swing solo to a modern rendition of the blues-y classic ”Sitting on the Dock of the Bay.” Fantastic job to all the participants, and a special thanks to George Valazquez and Brittany Bines for their very touching Rumba performance!

This Sunday, September 26th, marked the 96th Mini-Match, and proved a fun and exciting competition for all! Congratulations to Dance Elite Dance Club student, Margo Shannon, for winning Top Student! And congratulations to all the professional competitors from DEDC – Jason Rivera, Shannon Lyvers, Jeni Mochocki, Sean Mochocki, Markus Thiesen, and Eden Erickson. Special thanks to Richard Thoele for hosting such a wonderful event and all staff involved for helping the day run smoothly. Also, great appreciation to the judges Dmitry and Gabriella, and complitments to their stunning performances!

From free private lessons to bottles of wine, the winners at the Night at the Oscars awards party went home far from empty handed! Awards are as follows: Sponsor who earned the most points: 1st Margo Shannon, 2nd Dan and Linda Richardson, 3rd Michael Hershey, 4th Tara Thompson, 5th Joy and Vernon Jones, 6th Bob and Kathy Murphy, 7th Ray Taber, 8th was tied with RJ Wizemann and Tiffany Thompson! For our ticket drawings, 1st place went to Tiffany Thompson winning 5 private lessons, 2nd prize went to Margo Shannon and Tiffany Thompson winning 4 private lessons each, 3rd prize went to Tara Thompson, RJ Wizemann, and Natalie Tyre who each won 2 private lessons, 5th prize had 10 winners of 1 private lesson each and are as follows: Jose Malave (who won twice!), Dan and Linda Richardson (who won 4 times!), Linda and Kerry Swanson, Ashley and Russ Pitmon, Michael Hershey, and Bob and Kathy Murphy. The Spirit award was won by Dan and Linda Richardson, whose enthusiasm and love for dance always shines bright and is contagious to others in the studio. Margo Shannon, who is an outstanding member of the DEDC family won Top Student, and Abe Catalan won Top Teacher.

Dance Elite Dance Club would like to thank all those who participated this year and made this an AWESOME Festival season! The winning team, The Directors, would like to send out a special thank you to all their sponsors who helped them rack up the points in this years contest and beat their very worthy opponents, The Producers.
